Partly first edition copy of one of the most famous 19th century recipe books, expanded with 1,200 new articles by Fouret and Délan.

Illustrated with 9 tipped-in plates depicting the arrangement of the table according to lunches, courses and number of cutlery.

This work, which has been published and completed many times, was originally published in 1806 under the title “Cuisinier impérial”: it became “Royal” in 1817, “National” in 1853 and again “Imperial “in 1854. "Les régimes changent, les sauces aussi" (Oberlé)!

It is the work of one of the innovators of cuisine, Alexandre Viard (or Viart), culinary author and chef of the Revolutionary period to the Restoration, whose work was added to in 1820 by Fouret, ex-officier de bouche to the King of Spain, then by Délan in 1831.

Contemporary romantic binding, smooth spine adorned with gilded stamping. First joint split, rubbed headcap, worn corners and edges of the boards. Sound volume. Foxing and dampstains on the title and half-title, tear in the margin of the title. More or less scattered foxing on the rest of the book.
