In 1987 Franklin Mint issued the first series of twelve classic American cars of the Fifties. The cars represented most of the categories from the sport convertible Chevrolet Corvette to the Cadillac Eldorado cruiser. Complete with realistic details, colours, opening doors and hoods revealing precision interiors and engine compartments.
In the book there is an information sheet for each car, accompanied by a reproduction of an original magazine advertisement.
This set has been displayed for a little over a year when it was first issued, and have been stored in a box for the last 30 years, so is in near mint condition.

Project Classic Cars of the Fifties was supported by massive advertising in magazines. The models were sold by subscription system. Customers who ordered the entire series were awarded the 50's styled display shelf crafted of hard wood as a bonus. The original price of each model was $55 in 1987.
