An incredibly rare example of Jules Massenet's, '20 Mélodies'. Signed and dated 1903 by Massenet on the verso of the title with a manuscript musical quotation in the composer's hand of the opening line of song number 8 in the collection, "Ne donne pas ton coeur aux roses du chemin."

Bound in grey cloth covers. There is some staining to the cloth and wear to edges. Condition: hinges weak, with some chords visible in parts. There is some light staining to the lower margin and block edge to the first few leaves. A few areas of grubbiness, but otherwise in good order. Stamp to lower title.
