Signed letter from Puydt Jean Ambroise Governor of Hainaut addressed to the Commander of the 1st Ban of the Civic Guard in Charleroi:
"... I have the honour to inform you that the War Department, at the request of the Minister of the Interior, has just made available 50 SWORDS, destined for the 1st ban of Civic Guards under your command. As soon as these swords arrive at their destination please distribute them and give me notice..."
From Puydt Jean Ambroise (1758-1836) He was chief medical officer of the Belgian army, doctor of the Northern Army. He organised the military hospitals of Antwerp and Bruges. In 1796 he became Commissioner of the Government. He was a member of the Five Hundreds, central commissioner of the department of Jemmapes, director of the Mont de Piété of Mons, Governor of Hainaut.
