First edition in 15 volumes in-12 of the monumental "Histoire de la Révolution Française" by the socialist and republican Louis Blanc (1811-1882), published in 12 octavo vols from 1847 to 1862.
The first two volumes are devoted to the "origins and causes of the Revolution": individualism, the bourgeoisie, the eighteenth century.
Good quality bindings in red half-morocco, ribbed spine, title, author and volume number with golden tooling.
Decorative set despite some slight defects: leather a little worn, present slight friction, small tear at the foot cap of volume 4 without lack. Slightly burnished inside.
Radical opponent of Louis-Philippe, and soon revolutionary of 1848, Louis Blanc was a supporter of a Jacobin and socialist Republic. His political commitment is also based on a Histoire de la Révolution Française (1847-1862). He distinguishes 1789 from 1793 by the opposition of two principles: individualism and fraternity. If the first favoured the bourgeoisie, the second had to liberate the people, oppressed and poor, but without eliminating the bourgeoisie (...)
