In good condition. The right joint is torn at the top and bottom, approx. 1 cm. New linen on the covers, the first and last flyleaf glued on respectively the next and previous flyleaf. A scribble on the second flyleaf. The text block is discoloured, a large water stain on the bottom half of the side margin of the flyleaves till the title page and on the last flyleaves, after that in the bottom corner of approx. 1-2 cm through page 77. The pages are somewhat wavy.
Contains 8 chrome lithographs (all pictured), 28 illustrations outside the text and many text engravings.
2. Dom Guéranger - Sainte Cécile et la société romaine aux deux premiers siècles par Dom Guéranger - Paris, Libraire de Firmin-Didot, 1879 - 590 pp. - Gilded leather binding with golden page edges - 29 x 21.5 cm.
In mediocre condition. Loss of leather at the top of the spine, the right joint is almost entirely open, the front cover still affixed to approx. 6 cm of leather, a horizontal tear in the bottom of the spine, see photos. The text block is discoloured, a blemish here and there and/or foxing, mainly in the margins or on the protective tissue of the engravings.
Contains two chrome lithographs and six engravings outside the text, and 250 wood engravings in the text.
It weighs approx. 6 kilograms.
