Patrice Bernet - Orchidées de la Réunion - 2010

Passionate about orchids, Patrice Bernet publishes a beautiful book entitled "Orchidées de la Réunion". Nearly 15 years of work were necessary to produce this encyclopedia on the 158 species of orchids (including 25 endemic) present in Reunion.

All the orchids of Reunion gathered for the first time in a book. "Orchidées de la Réunion" is unique in that it offers 1200 quality photos as well as a description of all the species of orchids that exist on our island. Considerable field and bibliographic research work has been carried out to propose a book, far from being reserved for botanists. All enthusiasts and lovers of Reunion will find a real moment of pleasure and discovery.

In the book, we get as close as possible to orchids... Close-up shots allow you to get into their intimacy. Thus, some flowers, which are sometimes only a few millimeters long, are observed as no one has seen them yet.

Patrice Bernet, the author of this book, is undoubtedly passionate about plants. To arrive at this work, it took him 15 years, to survey the forests, to photograph tirelessly. He is not a botanist by profession but a painter-decorator. Today, his expertise is recognized and he collaborates with the Natural History Museum of Paris.
