United Kingdom - 19th Century - Mid to Late - Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London - Connaught Rangers - Victorian - Sword
Victorian 1800s sword - Connaught Rangers - in original scabbard
The grip and hilt are a bit special. Grip with ray (or shark) skin and wire. Grip has kind of metal reinforcement to the front, and the hilt looks kind of rough. The quillon is quite small.
I have never seen this type of hilt before. (replacement?) - images should show.
One loose wire.
Blade has lots of decor:
- Weapons creast "Royal Arms of the United kingdom"
- Makers mark "Patent Solid Hilt - Henry Wilkinson - Pall Mall - London"
- "Connaught Rangers"
- "Royal Cypher of Queen Victoria"
- Numbered 31886
- Proof mark
Scabbard is covered in brown leather and has a metal end.
Length in scabbard: 100 cm
Length blade: 82 cm
Great special antique collectors item.
