Emmanuel Pons de Las Cases [Page de Napoléon 1er] - Lettre autographe signée à Claude-Pierre de Delay d'Agier - 1823
No. 59891417
Emmanuel-Pons-Dieudonné, Count of Las Cases (1800-1854) deputy to the restoration then senator of the Second Empire, son of Emmanuel de Las Cases, he accompanied his father to St. Helena.
He wrote under the dictation of the Emperor and thus participated in the Memorial of Saint Helena, driven by Hudson Lowe from Saint Helena and offended by his victimization of Napoleon, he then pursued him to London, provoked him into a duel, in the face of Hudson Lowe’s cowardice and refusal he publicly whipped him (...and fled to England).
He participated in the return of Napoleon’s ashes in 1840.
An austere and honest man, a Freemason, he was the deputy grand master Grand Orient de France from 1842 to 1846.
