Two parts bound together in the same folio volume (28.5 x 21 cm) in antique parchment, title on the spine.

I: ‘Primera parte de la Coronica General de toda España, y especialmente del Reyno de Valencia. Donde se tratan los estraños acaecimientos que del diluvio de Noe hasta los tiempos del Rey don Iayme de Aragon que gano Valencia, en España se siguieron.’ 6 sheets, including the title page framed by four large woodcut prints, at the top depicting the construction of the city walls, and at the bottom a war scene with the troops besieging, at both sides coat of arms reading: ‘Armas de los primeros pobladores de España. Armas de los Africanos. Armas de los Romanos. Armas de los Godos. Armas de Valentia que agora están. Armas de Valentia primeras. Armas de Aragon y Cataluña. Armas de los Moros.’, LXVIII (68) folio sheets.
The folio XXVII is MISSING, tear in folio XLIIII without text loss.

Side margin of folio XV with damage. Folio CVVII torn, without loss of text.

Initials, vignettes and small prints in the text, all wood engraved. Marginal notes.

Originally printed in Valencian and published in 1538, it was first published in Spanish in 1546. This copy includes the second edition of the first part and the first edition of the second part.

It’s a very rare and esteemed work, very important for the history of Spain and in particular that of Valencia, Aragon and Catalonia. It narrates the conquest of Valencia and the exploits of King James I of Aragon.

Title page of the first part with marginal reinforcement, some widespread stains.

Palau, 28824-28825; Salvá, 2836 refers only to a copy of the second edition, already in the 17th century, published in 1604.
