8 Reales silver coin struck in the American mint of Lima (Peru) in the year 1816. Assayer: J. P.
Obverse: ‘FERDIN VII DEI GRATIA 1812’ (Fernando VII by the grace of God) around the king's bust facing right.
Reverse: a legend that reads ‘HISPAN ET IND REX’ (King of Spain and the Indies), ‘ME’ (mint), ‘8 R’ (face value) and ‘J·P’ (assayer) encircles a crowned shield with castles and lions, a pomegranate at the base point and the escutcheon of the Bourbons between columns. The volute columns have scrolls with the inscription ‘PLUS VLTRA’.

In very fine condition, with a beautiful silver tone.
