Beautiful preparatory pencil studies by Teun Berserik for an illustration in the magazine 'le Figaro'.
Berserik, together with Peter van Dongen, was the first Dutch cartoonist for this comic series.
Berserik's sketch work, which he made on separate sheets, is unsurpassed. Everything is set up very powerfully.
5 studies were made on A4 paper, with sales prices printed on the back for the Champaka gallery, where Berserik had a sales exhibition. These are all 5 signed.
The detailed study on the deviating format was made on thick drawing paper. This is not signed.
Some fun facts:
- Teun Berserik is the son of the famous Hague painter Herman Berserik.
- One of the studies shows the title of the book that Blake is holding in his hands. It's the book 'The gentle'
Art of making enemies' by Whistler. A silent reference to the relationship between the two Dutch
artists of Blake and Mortimer.
The drawings will be carefully packaged and sent by registered mail. The last photo is of the final ink drawing, as it appeared in le Figaro.
NB !! This is for illustration purposes and is not part of this lot.
