Niccola Maria Salerno - Novelle di D. Niccola M. Salerno patrizio Salerno patrizio Salernitano - 1760
First edition of this rare work very well printed in Naples in 1760, decorated with a beautiful allegorical frontispiece of Marras, a portrait of the Marquis Niccola Fraggianni and embellished with pretty typographic ornaments engraved on wood (vignette on the title, head-pieces, tail-pieces and initial letters).
Period ivory-coloured vellum Italian binding, smooth spine adorned with the title in handwritten letters in gold.
Beautiful copy despite the traces of use on the vellum. Fresh and clean inside. The front cover remains a little open, nothing serious.
Published by Abbot Giliberti, this is the last work of the author Niccola Maria Salerno (1675-1762) composed of short stories on the model of the Decameron, spread over ten days and told by six young people, in the villa of the noble Lucrezia de Luna d'Aragona, located in Vietri sul Mareet (translation of "Novelle, raggruppate in dieci giornate e raccontate da sei giovani, nella villa della nobildonna Lucrezia de Luna d'Aragona, sita a Vietri sul Mare"). In this book the author takes up the narrative tradition already expressed with Masuccio Salernitano's Novellino.
