Two rare optics prints with a manned (“womanned”) hot air balloon from c. 1814 and the entrance of the French King Louis XVIII. According to the Smithonian Institute, the balloon was manned by Sophie Blanchard, a “state aeronaut” of great repute. Optics prints with aeronauts are highly sought after.
Added is a steel engraving from c. 1840 with an airship, drawn by Carel Christiaan Anthony LAST and published as a lithograph by P. Blommers.
