Franco Maria Ricci - LIBRO D'ORE
The edition includes twenty-nine Canti del Salterio in the poetic translation by David Maria Turoldo, seven Canti del Nuovo Testamento and the Ave Maria selected by Monsignor Gianfranco Ravasi, author of the general introduction and commentary on the texts, eighteen tipped-in colour plates, thirty-seven letter caps and a series of drawings made exclusively by Maestro Ugo Riva.
The "Book of Hours" is for the laity the text on which to meditate and pray.
The Book of Hours now created by ART'E' is a unique work because it manages to combine contemporary art with ancient tradition; it is, to be precise, "an attempt to freely recreate the ancient genre by relying exclusively on canonical Jewish-Christian prayers in the highest and most theological sense of the term”.
Plates: On the cover of the volume was placed a copy of the work ‘Pater Noster’
by Ugo Riva, original bas-relief work in special metal alloy, size 132x152 mm, made in casting, covered in 24 kt gold and coated with a special manual process by Fonderia Artistica Farbel in Brescia, in a limited edition.
Binding: The sewing, binding, and the cover of the volume (hand-dyed and finished mutton leather with four raised bands, four straps on the spine and gold inscriptions) were made according to an antique technique by the bookbinding laboratory "L'Arte del Libro" in Todi.
Colophon: The book was produced in an exclusive limited edition worldwide.
Published by Franco Maria Ricci.
Drawings: Ugo Riva.
