Figured heads and initials

Frontispiece with portrait of the author within a woodcut frame, headboards and initials woodcut at the beginning of each canto

Dimensions: approx.15 x 20.5 x 2 cm

Hard cover in half parchment not coeval - Text in Italian.

Very good condition. Binding and looks redone. Pages trimmed. Abrasion on the title page with partial damage to the figured frame.

The poem follows the adventures of Girone, a Breton hero, and differs from the writings of his time in that it tells of a single character, king-knight. It is proposed as a chivalrous epic poem that should have rivaled that of Ariosto.
