Magnificent edition of the Cantar de Mio Cid, one of the most outstanding examples of classical narrative and Castilian epic poetry.
It comes in two volumes in a case:
- Cantar: 60 sheets. From the original manuscript by Per Abbat, adapted to prose by Juan Victorio, designed to look like an antique codex with borders, facsimile reproductions of antique prints and beautiful original illustrations by Ángel Roncero specifically made for this edition. Text in Gothic script, golden book edges.
- Transcription: XXIII, 122 pages, 8 plates and numerous drawings on linen thread paper.
Both volumes bound in faux suede with dry embossing and golden embossing in Mudejar style. Flyleaves specially designed for this work.
Note: There was another simplified edition in a single volume of 5000 copies. The lot for sale here belongs to the two-volume edition of 750 copies.
