While Camille Lemonnier published "Le Mort" and "Un Mâle", in 1883 the Belgian poet Emile Verhaeren (1855-1916) published his first verses in the collection "Les Flamandes", naturalist poems, followed by "Les Bords de la route" and "Poèmes Inédits". He describes the peasants, paints the countryside and celebrates the art of the Flemings.
