Maserati - Bora 4.9 V8 - NO RESERVE - 1973

The Maserati Bora is a very rare vehicle, one of four Italian rear engine Supercars produced in the early '70s: Lamborghini Miura, Ferrari BB512, De Tomaso Mangusta, and Maserati Bora. It was the first Maserati road car with the engine in the rear (a carburettor V8 engine with 5-speed gearbox and a top speed of 280 km/h). This Bora is the rarest version: only 250 Bora were produced in the 4.9 enhanced version and only the first 40 or so cars retain the pre-USA design: front bonnet without grille, small chromed bumpers, no reflectors on the sides. An extremely rare and highly collectable car. What's more, the car's history has been recorded accurately, and the mileage is only 58,329 from new. Impeccable Fiery Red paintwork without signs of rust. A thickness gauge test was carried out and produced excellent values, showing no signs of previous accidents. The rare aerodynamic stainless steel roof is in beautiful condition and the sills have been restored to new condition. Mechanically, it has been virtually unused since 2008 and only in July 2022 major works for over €15,000 were completed to put it back on the road, including: - complete restoration of the rare 5 magnesium rims; - overhaul of power steering box; - starter motor, restored alternator and completely overhauled electrical system, including electric windows and pop-up headlights; - 4 new Michelin XWX tyres with a invoice for €1,750; - new petrol pump and overhauled petrol circuit; - overhauled brakes (calipers) with overhaul test on the rollers for efficiency; - complete new stainless steel exhausts including manifolds; - completely restored bumpers (chrome), new front one. The interior has been restored in the past in genuine Italian leather, in the factory ochre colour, and the seats feature red 'cadenin' trim on the seats and door panels, which were not originally standard. The underbody is solid and original, it has not suffered damage from accidents or repairs and still has its original finish. US papers with customs clearance and certificate of origin, Maserati technical specifications (see photo), a previous historical record of the car is included with some invoices for engine and carburettor overhaul, which also confirm the actual mileage. Original Battaini tool kit and jack, original keys. - Note: the air conditioning is working, but it needs to be refilled. The car is delivered ready for use with road test carried out and technical pre-inspection passed. Some videos of the car, engine and road driving are available. A high-resolution photo gallery is also available and is part of this description, on the seller’s website. Please ask Catawiki. Bidders are also welcome to view and try the vehicle, which is located in Quarrata, Pistoia Province, 51039 Italy.
