Ricciotti Garibaldi (Montevideo, February 24, 1847 - Riofreddo, July 17, 1924) was an Italian politician, patriot and leader, son of Anita and Giuseppe Garibaldi. Born in Uruguay, Ricciotti spent his childhood between Nice, Caprera and England. Fourth son of the Hero of the two worlds, he was so named in memory of Nicola Ricciotti, shot by the Bourbons during the expedition of the Bandiera Brothers.
In October 1870, following his father, he participated in the Franco-Prussian War, fighting in the Vosges, where he occupied Châtillon commanding the 4th Brigade of Garibaldi volunteers and captured the flag of the 61st German Pomeranian regiment in Pouilly, during the battle of Dijon. the only Prussian flag lost during the war, which ended with the French defeat.
He married the English Constance Hopcraft, with whom he attempted unfortunate commercial ventures in America and Australia. He was elected a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Kingdom of Italy from 1887 to 1890.
