These three beautiful hand-colored entomology engravings are by Maria Sibylla Merian and come from the book Erucarum ortus, alimentum et paradoxa metamorphosis. This work was published in 1718 by Johannes Oosterwijk in Amsterdam. This is the first Latin version of Merian's work on European entomology.
One print numbered 35 is Iris & Mot Metamorphosis.
The other print, numbered 50, depicts the metamorphosis of a moth on a lily.
There is also a print 31. This is the lily and a moth.
The condition is good, beautiful coloring and the back is unprinted.
