The obverse of the coin depicts the right profile of General de Gaulle placed in the center of the coin. We see a legend around: REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE (bottom) CHARLES DE GAULLE (top) separated from the cross of Lorraine on each side and the initials of the engraver ER (Emile Rousseau).
For the reverse, we can observe a hexagon in the center with the value, the legend around: LIBERTE. EQUALITY. FRATERNITY and the dates 1958-1988.
