"The Mastaba of Abu Dhabi" is the largest project that the world-renowned artist Christo and his partner Jeanne-Claude have ever tackled. The word mastaba means "bank of stone" - mastabas served as tombs in ancient Egypt.
Christo and Jeanne-Claude wanted to use around 400,000 oil barrels for their modern mastaba to erect a permanent monument in the Abu Dhabi desert, which, with a base area of 225 x 300 meters and a height of 150 meters, would far exceed the dimensions of the Cheops pyramid should.
