Athos Faccincani (1951) - Santa Maria De Idris tra Luce e Ciclamini

Multi-material silkscreen work on canvas with 36 color passages by Master Athos Faccincani, of total size in handcrafted white pickled frame with closed angle of 78x78cm.
The protagonist of the colors of Faccincani is this time the European Capital of Culture 2019, the beautiful Matera.
Inside the "Scenario da film" of the Sassi di Matera there is the church of Santa Maria de Idris, it is a rupestrian church carved into the rock and can be reached via a flight of stairs.
The name "Idris" derives from the Greek "Odigitria", "She who shows the way", or "From the water that gushed from that rock".
The artist expresses himself through his brushstroke evocative of a past memory or dream, perfectly rendering the "warmth" of the landscape imbued with colors, joie de vivre and happiness, through a masterly technique that excites and exalts.
