AMAZING edition of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy "widely translated into prose for the use of the Italian people", accompanied by 80 black and white illustrations by Oreste Amadio. VERY RARE edition, the only one currently on sale in the world. Beautiful full-page illustrations in the text, numbered. From a check, the pages are all present - there are approximately 1270 pages that collect the 3 songs with their respective indexes - but 3 illustrations are missing .... the initials of n. 53 appear in a text page, as well as the n 79, also missing n 54 of which there is no wording. Indeed I assume that the work is complete printed in this way at the time. The illustrations by Amadio are beautiful and very evocative. On the outside, original binding with some signs of wear on the spine and edges, on the inside, slight wear on the endpapers. Rarity. Never seen a copy for sale in the last 15 years.
