Rare work. Second and last edition of these customs of Lorris-Montargis, a village located in the center of France. Its political jurisdiction extended to the province of Gâtinais. First published in 1617, Lhost's edition is based on an annotated edition by Du Mouli dating from 1597 -
"In the first half of the 12th century, the parish of Lorris had obtained a charter of privileges from King Louis VII (1155), and Philip II Augustus granted it again in 1187 -
The custom of Lorris, which was renowned because of these franchises and privileges, was adopted very quickly not only in Gâtinais, but also in Beauce. Lorris' privileges were renewed twice: first in 1448, under Charles VII, then in 1625, under Louis XIII" (Caswell and Sipkov) -

Good condition of the binding, book in its full soft cream vellum (contemporary binding), body of the book detached from the edges, stain on the upper cover, smooth spine titled in ink, good condition of the covers and the spine , rubbing from use, lacks, red edges, handwritten annotations -
Correct interior condition, handwritten ex-libris on the title, old marginal annotations, [8]-24,722-[54] pages. Missing CCCc notebook, waterstaining at the foot of the pages, piece of sheet glued to the margin of the title, gallery of verses at the foot of the pages around pages 140, a few footers cut into the margin without affecting the text (pp. 299, 399, 699 ), ink stains and scribbles (pp. 338-339 & 547), angular cutout at the bottom of the last table sheet without affecting the text, scattered foxing and browning. Good condition all the same -
