Il s'agît du célèbre portrait d’une jeune Afghane aux yeux verts perçants.
C'est d'ailleurs ce reportage en Afghanistan, pour lequel il remporte la Robert Capa Gold Medal en 1980, qui lui assure une renommée internationale.

A propos de l'artiste :

Steve McCurry a couvert la guerre Iran-Irak, la guerre du Golfe, franchi la frontière entre le Pakistan et l’Afghanistan lors de la guerre contre l’URSS, a voyagé dans le monde entier au contact de populations directement impactées par les conflits armés. 
Ses clichés ont marqué l’imaginaire collectif, à l’instar de son célèbre portrait d’une jeune Afghane aux yeux verts perçants. C'est d'ailleurs ce reportage en Afghanistan, pour lequel il remporte la Robert Capa Gold Medal en 1980, qui lui assure une renommée internationale.
