F.H. Danvin - Sculpture, Native American Scout - 20 cm - Bronze - 1930
A striking and dynamic Art Deco sculpture depicting a Native American warrior or scout in a crouching, stalking pose, holding a tomahawk in his right hand. This work is signed by the French artist F.H. Danvin (active 1920-1940).
Unlike many similar Art Deco sculptures from this period which are made of spelter, this is a substantial, high-quality solid bronze cast with a beautiful dark patina. The quality of the casting is evident in the musculature and the details of the face and headdress.
The sculpture is mounted on a heavy, rectangular base made of prestigious Portor marble (black marble with distinctive gold/yellow veining), which is highly characteristic of the Art Deco era.
Good condition. The bronze has a lovely aged patina. Please see the photos for a detailed impression of the condition and the signature.
