These prints, despite almost 200 years, are still in very good conditions. They are after drawings by Turpin, that, through his collaboration with Poiteau and other naturalists, created some of the finest watercolors and illustrations of plants that are known to exist. Superbly handcoloured (the hand colouring is original to the time of issue) on white paper, they are beautifully executed stipple engravings in very fine detail, The colours are bright and very intense on a creamy white medium weight paper. They are from a French edition. This lot is of 3 prints, sizes 20 by 12 cm (leaves). The flawless white paper allows the brilliance of color and nuance of tonality to shine through.
