2021 Niepoort, Redoma - Douro DOC - 3 Bottles (0.75L)

2021 Niepoort Redoma Red 3 x 0.75L 3 Bottles Douro Region DESCRIPTION From 1842 up to today, six generations have been writing Niepoort’s history. What unites them is a passion for wine – a passion which respects traditions but does not shy away from embarking on new paths whenever its unbridled creative drive sounds the call. Dirk is the current leader of the family – a role passed down to him by his father, with the challenge to “innovate while preserving good traditions”. More than up for the challenge, this fifth-generation member of Niepoort is intensely curious by nature: he carefully observes everything that happens around him, and when he glimpses a unique opportunity, he jumps into action without hesitation. Dirk's children Daniel, Marco and Ana are following in their father's footsteps to ensure that the next few chapters of Niepoort's history continue to be as fruitful as each harvest. WINEMAKER: Dirk Niepoort. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS 90 Points, Falstaff (2019 Vintage) 17 Points, Jancis Robinson (2019 Vintage) 92 Points, Meininger (2018 Vintage) 93 Points, Hudin (2017 Vintage) 92 Points, Wine Spectator (2017 Vintage) 92 Points, Revista Adega (2017 Vintage) 18.5 Points, Vinum Magazine (2016 Vintage) 95 Points, Cellar Selection, Wine Enthusiast (2015 Vintage) 94 Points, Jamie Goode (2014 Vintage) 92 Points, Andreas Larsson – Tasted (2014 Vintage) WINE VARIETIES: Tinta Amarela, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz & Tinto Cão. VINIFICATION Forgoing any special sorting process, 100% whole bunches were transferred into stainless steel lagares equipped with mechanised stomping devices, where they macerated for a short period of time. Lastly the wine went through malolactic fermentation in old wooden barrels where it also matured for approximately 22 months. TASTING NOTES The Redoma Tinto 2021 is a Niepoort classic which reflects the elegance, structure, and acidity that only a region as diverse as the Douro Valley can express. The colour is ruby-red. concentrated with violet hues. The nose is delicate and complex. It starts off with floral, cherry and ruibarb notes to after swirling reveal hints of tobacco, graphite and spices. On the palate it is structured, round and precise. The balanced acidity promises longevity and the finish is long and piquant. SERVING Pair with red meats, codfish, cheese and game meat. Store in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations. Keep the bottle in a horizontal position. Best served at a temperature between 16-18ºC. PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction. The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s).
