The Château Brane-Cantenac Estate
The origins of Château Brane-Cantenac date back to the 17th century. Its owner, who had the greatest impact on the estate's history, was Baron de Brane, nicknamed the "Napoleon of the Vines," who purchased Château Gorce in 1833. A pioneer in viticulture, he understood the reputation and potential of this exceptional terroir, located on the best hillsides of Cantenac: he devoted all his energy and fortune to it. In 1838, eager to leave an indelible mark, he chose to rename Gorce: "Brane-Cantenac"; then, during the 1855 classification, the château was classified 2nd Grand Cru. In 1925, the Lurton family bought this prestigious cru which, from generation to generation, perpetuated the style of the wines. The harvests were then precise, the vinifications controlled thanks to new technologies (optical sorting, R'Pulse system), and the aging was careful, in French oak barrels. The Second Grands Crus classés are renowned for their finesse, their depth and their balance.
