Ce dernier est scarifié suivant la coutume Chockwe.
Toujours portés par des hommes, ces masques sont utilisés dans des danses rituelles dédiées à la fécondité.
Ils apportent prospérité et fécondité. Cependant, maîtrisés par les sorciers, ils peuvent revêtir un caractère maléfiques et devenir des Wanga.
