Victorian aneroid barometer with thermometer, manufactured in Vienna and retailed by Willi Weichert, 119 Bute Docks, Cardiff, circa 1870–1890. The circular dial is engraved with the traditional weather indications “Stormy – Rain – Change – Fair – Very Dry”, together with a dual pressure scale from 28 to 31 inches of mercury. The lower section includes a thermometer calibrated in both Centigrade and Fahrenheit. The dial bears several prestigious inscriptions attesting to the maker’s provenance: “Vienna. The Order of the Golden Cross & Crown” “Prize Medals. Paris 1867, Havre 1868” Housed in a circular brass case with brass bezel and convex glass, the instrument retains its original twin pointers (manual reference and pressure indicator) and central adjustment knob. A distinguished and well-preserved example of 19th-century continental craftsmanship, distributed in Britain through a respected maritime instrument retailer at Cardiff’s historic Bute Docks. Dimensions: Approx. 28 cm diameter, 6.5 cm depth Condition: Appears in working order; however, due to age, accuracy and precision cannot be guaranteed. Minor age-related wear and patina consistent with age. Glass intact and pointers move freely.
