Stilleven met bloemen, an oil painting from the Netherlands, dating to 1980–1990, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Cornelis Kees Bol (Oegstgeest, September 21, 1916 – Heusden, September 16, 2009) was a Dutch painter and draftsman. In 1944, Bol began his training as a visual artist, initially by taking drawing lessons with Jan Heesters in Schijndel, followed by attending the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague as an apprentice. There, he was among others a student of Paul Citroen and Henk Meijer.
In addition to being an independent painter and draftsman, he was affiliated as a teacher at the Art Academy in The Hague from 1963 to 1972. From 1951 to 1972, he was also a teacher at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven. Until 1970, Bol lived in Eindhoven, after which he resided in Heusden until his death in 2009.
This still life depicts a vase with white flowers and a bowl of green apples on a table with a lively pattern. The loose brushstrokes and the rich use of color give the work an expressive and vibrant appearance.
Bol combines a balanced composition with a free and modern color palette, giving the painting a warm and intimate atmosphere. The style shows influences from post-impressionism and fauvism, where color and paint application are more important than realistic representation.
This artwork comes from the collection of the Eindhoven Museum. As part of the transition to Museumpark Vonk, selected works are being disposed of so that the museum can fully focus on the history and identity of Eindhoven.
