Designer & Manufacturer
Hans Achtziger (1925 – 2019) was a German sculptor and porcelain designer who worked for Hutschenreuther from the 1950s through the 1970s. Known for his clean geometric forms and subtle textures, he helped modernize the company’s visual language and brought a distinctly architectural sensibility to porcelain design.
Hutschenreuther, founded in 1814 in Hohenberg a.d. Eger, Bavaria, became one of Germany’s most respected porcelain houses. In the 20th century it distinguished itself through artistic collaborations and modernist innovations that paralleled the Bauhaus tradition. The brand later joined the Rosenthal group, cementing its place in the history of German design.
