Description from the seller
Complete silver-plated coffee/tea service in metal, made by Félix Frères, a Toulouse-based goldsmith house founded in 1875. Active until 2006, the house distinguished itself from the late 19th century by the quality of its craftsmanship, blending classical tradition with elegant interpretations of historical styles, and later evolving towards Art Deco lines during the interwar period.
This neo-Empire style service revisits the Empire style codes with ornamental touches borrowed from the Louis XVI repertoire.
The baluster shapes and symmetrical construction evoke the architectural rigor and monumentality of the imperial era. Added to this are vertical flutes, beaded friezes, palmettes, and applied rosettes, which refer to the decorative elegance characteristic of the reign of Louis XVI.
The black ebony lid handles and buttons provide a refined visual contrast, highlighting the nobility of the lines and the finesse of the finishes. The overall design creates a harmonious balance between classic solemnity and ornamental sobriety.
This piece exudes great formal elegance, complemented by remarkable craftsmanship. Special mention goes to the handles of the tray, finely decorated with tied olive leaves, a rare and particularly meticulous detail.
In excellent condition.
This service consists of:
Large tray (small stain) 52.5cm by 37cm
One coffee carafe, height 24cm (interior in excellent condition).
Teapot for tea, height 17cm (interior in excellent condition)
1 milk pot, height 13.5 cm
1 sugar bowl, height 15cm
