Description from the seller
Original edition of this important work dedicated to divinatory sciences, authored by Elie Alta, pseudonym of Gervais-Anet Bouchet, published in Vichy in 1917.
From the first print run, one of the 520 copies on glossy snow-white vellum paper, numbered at the press. This one is No. 336.
Rich iconography composed of more than 450 explanatory figures in black within the text.
Bound in half-burgundy leather, with a floral blind-ruled spine, decorated with the title in gilt letters. A fine work, with a sturdy binding showing some signs of use, with rounded corners. Interior clean and fresh, without foxing or rare stains. A crease on the half-title page.
I am a positivist mystic, meaning I provide the material proof of the reason behind mysticism; thus, the practical part of this work supports the metaphysical part. This metaphysics may seem personal, but it is not; what I present is as old as the world, and nothing can be attributed to me. Dear reader, be indulgent towards the author and patiently familiarize yourself with prophetic science.
Gervais Bouchet
Human cosmogony. An essay synthesizing divinatory sciences. Complete chiromancy. Key to physiognomy, phrenology, graphology, symbolism, and religious architecture.
Vichy, Bouchet Dreyfus, 1917
Fort in-8 (23.5 x 15 cm); 527 pages + errata
