Two signed bronze bronze ice birds bookends on marble bases in Art Deco style, circa 1920, France; sturdy decorative sculptures with warm patina and tasteful provenance.
Description from the seller
Set of two sculptural bronze kingfisher bookends on marble – Art Deco, circa 1920-30
This elegant set combines craftsmanship and style: two bronze kingfishers, designed in a stylized Art Déco form, adorn a marble plinth and together form a harmonious pair. With a height of approximately 19 cm and a weight of about 1.9 kg, this set exudes quality and decorative impact.
The warm patina and the sturdy marble bases make this object both collectible and functional at home. Ideal for Art Déco enthusiasts, bird figurines, or beautiful bookends in a practical art form.
Since the sculpture is made of solid bronze and securely mounted on marble, this set is both robust and elegant. A special object with style and history—a beautiful addition to any interior or collection environment.
Signed with bronze.
It is conceivable that this set was made by Irénée Rochard, based on style, material, and the combination of bronze/marble as well as signed bronze. His style is characterized by stylized yet recognizable animal figures, with flowing lines and refined patinas.
This set comes from a French family on the Avignon side.
Good condition, only a hairline crack in the marble. View the photos, as they are part of the description. (Books not included in the sale, used decoratively)
