Magnificent Art Deco large “Elephant Lidded Box”, made by Royal Dux Porzellan-Manufaktur, Bohemia - Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic), in excellent condition. Pure Art Deco European artistry, the box, often referred as Candy box, features a magnificent detailed Elephant in white glaze on the top of the lid. The box itself is hand painted in deep cobalt blue with gold accents, typical for Royal Dux artistic porcelain of the period. Dux Porcelain Manufactory was started in 1860 in Duchov, Bohemia by Edouard Eichler and is commonly referred to by its abbreviated name, Royal Dux. Before the first World War, the letter E appeared in the center of the porcelain pink triangle to mark Royal Dux porcelain. It’s in excellent condition, beautifully sculpted and glazed, marked accordingly on the back of the base by the added matte Dux pink triangle seal with faded “E” inside, impressed number #2961, possible minor chews chip on the inside border and faded gild, otherwise NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures, as they are part of description.
