Autograph letter signed by General Maxime Weygand, dated 30 March 1955, in French on blue vellum, 20.8 x 13.4 cm, in very good condition.
Description from the seller
Signed autograph letter from General Maxime Weygand, dated March 30, 1955, in Paris, written in blue ink on a sheet of bluish vellum paper.
In this letter, Weygand discusses several personal and literary matters: sending a signed volume to his correspondent (probably 'Reading the Memoirs of General de Gaulle', Flammarion 1955), the requested intervention with Marshal Juin, as well as reflections on Chaumeix and Admiral Lacaze.
Investigation at Flammarion: your signed copy was sent by mail on March 11. It may have met an enthusiast on the way.
In any case, dear friend, I dedicated another one yesterday, which may have already reached you.
Your letter to Marshal Juin was sent as soon as it was received. It is an impossible wish to fulfill: under the dome are only men of the highest caliber: Turenne, Vauban, Foch... and the heart of the Tour d'Auvergne, which was of exceptional quality!
You will end up making me proud, even though I am aware of all my shortcomings. For my very dear André Chaumeix as well as for Admiral Lacaze, I simply stated what I knew of them, and that it was important to preserve.
Believe, dear friend, too generous, in my affectionate feelings.
I believe it is unnecessary to ask the Review for permission to reproduce my speech.
The tone is friendly, modest, and demonstrates their willingness to respond to the interlocutor's requests.
Reminder of the dimensions: 20.8 x 13.4 cm.
Condition: Very good state of preservation, with creases inherent to shipping and use. See photos for more details.
