Description from the seller
Mads Berg - "Paris, Roland Garros, 1983 [Yannick Noah]"
High-quality art paper with a matte finish, 160g/m².
100% FSC certified paper for responsible management and biodegradability.
Copyright: Edition by The Archives Design Group (UK) Ltd. Under worldwide license from The Pierce Archive LLC. Printed in the United Kingdom.
Mads Berg is a Danish illustrator (born in 1975 in Odense) known for blending vintage graphics and the Art Deco style with modern illustration. His works often evoke nostalgia, but with clean lines and simplified, elegant compositions.
The impression is a recreation of a moment from the 1983 Open de France. It depicts Yannick Noah during his decisive victory in the final, capturing both the dynamism of the game and his charismatic presence (notably his dreadlocks and athletic posture). It is not a contemporary poster from 1983, but a later work of art celebrating this historic moment.
Noah was the first Frenchman to win the men's singles tournament at Roland-Garros since Marcel Bernard in 1946. To this day, he remains the last French male player to have won a singles title at a Grand Slam.
Also notable: his victory in 1983 with a wooden racket — one of the last at this level in Grand Slam singles.
Work stored flat in a plastic sleeve within a professional binder and a non-smoking area.
Carefully packed in a sturdy tube and sent with a tracking number.
Mads Berg is a Danish illustrator renowned for his neo-Art Deco style blending retro elegance with modern geometry. His work evokes the stylized glamour of Monsieur Z, the narrative precision of Laurent Durieux, and the vibrant minimalism of Malika Favre, making him a major reference in contemporary illustration.
