Märklin H0 - 3150 - Train Set (1) - 4-Unit 'Northlander', with Certificate - Ontario Northland Railroad
Company number: 1980

Front and closing signals change with the direction of travel.

With certificate number 4140 of a 5000-piece edition.
Five train sets were built from the Dutch/Swiss TRANS-EUROP-EXPRESS, with two units for the SSB (company numbers 501 and 502) and 503, and for NS (company numbers DE 1001 to 1003). The latter train sets operated on the Amsterdam – Zurich route as TEE 'Edelweiss'. After one train from the SSB was taken out of service in 1971 due to accident damage, in 1976/77 the second SBB train and three NS trains were sold to the Canadian Ontario Northland and converted according to North American standards. Around 1980, locomotives were equipped with more powerful engines (manufacturer General Motors), which were better suited to withstand the harsh Canadian winters. Under the name 'Northlander', the three 'TEE' trains continued service until 1992. In 1997, the train sets were brought back to Europe by the TEE Classics Association. The train sets remained in the Hamburg port for months because they could not be transported further due to the American wheel profile. The TEE Netherlands Foundation has since transferred the five carriages back to Europe, moving them to Zwolle on June 25/26, 2006. Just before the 50th anniversary of the Trans Europ Express (June 2, 2007), the front of one of the control carriages was repainted in the old red TEE color. After many travels, the train set is now at the Trans Europ Express Foundation in Leek, awaiting restoration to operational condition.
