Description from the seller
Bohemian crystal glass vase from the 'Nemo' collection created by designer Max Karnegiesser for the then Czechoslovakian company Borske Sklo, produced in the early 1960s of the 20th century.
Some words about the designer and the company, to give an overview of the object:
Borske Sklo is a crystal manufacturing company founded in 1948 as a union of all the glassworks in the Nový Bor region, the cradle of Bohemia's crystal history.
Around the 1960s, the company collaborated with renowned designers such as Adolf Matura, Kannegiesser, Hellerova, and others, to conclude its history under this name in 1974. Since then, and continuing to today, it operates as Crystalex, which still holds the exclusive rights to the 'Bohemian Chiystal' brand.
Max Karnegiesser, on the other hand, was born in 1922, studied at the Dresden Art Institute, and in the 1950s and 1960s, directed the design line of Borske Sklo, personally designing several lines.
Of these, the NEMO collection, of which this vase is part, was the winner of the Czechoslovak National Design Award in 1962.
Specifically regarding the vase in question, it features the most elegant line, very luminous, and with a strong decorative character.
Furthermore, this bubble treatment, as can be seen from some photos, creates a fantastic optical effect when looking through each of these portholes, revealing a kind of carpet of colored bubbles with a distorted and almost ethereal appearance.
Excellent conditions, no flaws.
