Description from the seller
A treatise on smallpox in two parts.
Part I. Contains a description of both the distinguishing and converging types; when they occur regularly; and the healing indications in each period; and the methods to treat different patients concerning heat and cold; clothing and diet; medicines, etc. Also, a report of the incidental symptoms, regarding their causes and effects, and the indications for healing, and the proper remedies related to each of them. Likewise, responses to the arguments of the most renowned doctors regarding bleeding in this disease; and then evidence of the likelihood of healing in the febrile state, to prevent outbreaks and other subsequent periods, and a method that will likely achieve this; which, if effective, can prevent individuals from this disease. Part II. The presentation of histories of cases, illustrating this disease and its various symptoms. Also, a dissertation on the management of young children affected; and a method of external remedies for those who do not wish to take internal medicines; and then some practical aphorisms derived from the Histories. By Theophilus Lobb, MD and Fellow of the Royal Society.
