Vintage space-age eyeball floor lamp in lacquered steel with two adjustable eyeballs, 141 cm tall with a 22 cm base diameter and approximately 27 cm lamp ball diameter, weighing 3.3 kg, in working order and in fair condition with possible missing small parts.
Description from the seller
Very decorative vintage space age eyeball floor lamp (standing lamp) with two eyeballs. The lamp, made in '70s brown with gold eyeballs, is 141cm tall, and the base has a diameter of about 22cm. The diameter of the lamp globe is approximately 27cm, which is very large for this type of lamp! The weight is nearly 3.5kg.
The lamp probably dates from the 1960s or early 1970s, and it fully embodies the vintage atmosphere, with the typical eyeball lamps of the space age.
This type of lamps are called eyeball lamps because the round spotlight with a lamp in the middle resembles an eye with the lamp as the pupil (see photos). Especially when you use lamps that have a silver coating on the front, the eyeball is very clearly visible (see photos).
The lamp is in reasonable condition. Scratches are visible on the stem from moving the lamp balls up and down, and the balls themselves were probably once black and have been reasonably neatly spray-painted gold later. The switch is not original. The signs of use are logical for over 50 years of use.
The bulbs can be independently rotated, nodded, and slid up and down, allowing the adjustment of each individual eyeball (spot) to be customized. This makes the lamp very suitable as a reading light, but also as a spotlight that can illuminate, for example, a piece of art or a painting. The lamps can be slid from top to bottom and fixed in place, and they can be rotated 360 degrees around the stem.
This beautiful lamp fits into any interior and is definitely a conversation piece!
The lamp is carefully packed and shipped insured.
