AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Extremely rare Victorian/Edwardian hunting set with horse, hunting dogs, table bell, and gun – a top piece in English gilt brass, circa 1900s.

An absolutely rare and luxurious desk accessory with a rich equestrian and hunting theme.
English, circa 1900, executed in gilt brass / bronze doré of good quality – typical of the finest Birmingham or London workshops (Benham & Froud, William Tonks style, or similar, discreetly finished as with virtually all top pieces from this period).

Unique and almost never complete combination of elements.
Elegant, raised tray on four horse legs with a beautiful belt/buckle motif along the front edge.
Two original faceted glass ink pots with lids, each topped with a beautifully modeled standing hunting dog (pointer) that serves as a handle.
Central large desk bell
A richly decorated double-barreled hunting rifle slanted over the bell.
• As the absolute highlight: a majestic horse with bridle, bit, reins, and woven horse blanket atop the bell—a remarkably fine and lifelike figure that perfectly depicts fox hunting or elegant carriage rides.

Dimensions approximately 29-30 cm wide × 20 cm high – imposing and noticeable.

state
Suitable for a piece aged 125–140 years. Beautiful warm original gilding with natural patina and wear on the high points (the nose and ears of the horse, dogs, the barrel of the rifle) – exactly as it should be and desired in authentic Victorian gilt brass. No cracks, no restorations, no replacements. Both glass jars are original and undamaged, with perfectly fitting lids, bell.

Recently cleaned very carefully using the museum method. Honestly, there are old traces of previous cleaning with Brasso or similar aggressive agents.

Ideal for collectors of:
• Victorian & Edwardian desk antiques
• English gilt brass & bronze doré
• Hunting antiques & sporting antiques
• Equestrian / horse & fox hunting objects
A real conversation piece and an absolute eye-catcher in any display case or on a desk.

Worldwide insured and professionally packaged shipping.
More detailed photos available upon request.
