AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Handcrafted transparent glass art sculpture depicting a toucan with a beak in amber/brown glass. Murano (Italy), circa 1990. Comes with a label from V. Nason & C. and signed beneath the base: Nason.
History: Vincenzo Nason founded his glassworks, Vincenzo Nason & Cie (VNC), on the island of Murano, Venice, in 1967, after previously working at Venini. For a certain period, the glassworks was called Veritable Opaline de Murano before the name was definitively changed to V. Nason & C. in 1989. It is believed that the company closed around 2001. V. Nason & C. is probably best known for its 'Avventurina' range, black glass filled with copper inclusions of aventurina. They also produced numerous animal and bird sculptures, as well as opaline glass often bearing labels with the inscription 'Veritable Opaline de Murano' or 'Veritable Opaline de Venise', both with a red wax seal in the style of an 'N' for Nason. Dimensions: height 27.7 x 30 x 7.4 cm.
