Putti con ghirlande di fiori, an 18th‑century oil painting from Italy, attributed to a follower of Massimo Stanzione, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
The decorative painting presented here, attributed to a follower of Massimo Stanzione, depicts a group of putti immersed in an airy and luminous atmosphere, suspended against a background of soft clouds. The composition develops horizontally with a rhythmic and harmonious flow: the children are arranged in a gentle diagonal, creating a marvelous balance between filled and empty spaces, movement and stillness. The putti, nude and soft in flesh, are captured in natural and varied poses, animated by delicate gestures and a subtle play of gazes.
Stylistically, the softness of the flesh tones and the sweetness of the faces evoke an ideal of idealized beauty, typical of Stanzionesan culture. The light is diffuse and enveloping, shaping the bodies with graduated, velvety tonal transitions. The brushwork is fluid, fine, almost polished, becoming more dynamic in the clouds and the enchanting floral details of the garlands.
The colors are soft and harmonious: pearly pinks, warm ivories, and muted greens blend into a refined and luminous palette. This results in an image of composed grace, where tempered naturalism combines with reassuring elegance, giving the scene a decorative character that is at once poetic and suspended.
The fabric comes from a Piedmontese residence.
A more recent and polished frame is included as a gift with the work.
Dimensions: 100 cm x 79 cm.
