Vladinsky - Studium der Wahrnehmung (2024) mixed media on canvas, portrait orientation
We are pleased to present an impressive new work from Vladinsky's latest series, a bold development of his figurative exploration. This minimalist yet deeply expressive piece features a semi-abstract bust against a soft, light beige background. The subject's head, rendered in striking neon pink, becomes a captivating focal point and embodies the tension between presence and anonymity.
The facial features – eyes, mouth, nose, and ears – are sketched in a raw yet conscious style with a black marker and reduced to their essential forms. This deliberate simplicity questions conventional portrait painting and shifts the focus from individual identity to a broader exploration of human perception, emotions, and self-awareness. The vertical composition enhances the elegant austerity of the work and makes it a compelling addition to contemporary minimalist collections.
Following the success of the Observer Series, which was exhibited in four solo shows at the HOFA Gallery in London, Vladinsky's work continues to push the boundaries of figurative abstraction. This latest series will also be showcased at upcoming international art fairs, including ART Hong Kong, Chicago, Volta New York, Art Miami, Contemporary Istanbul, ARTO21 Shanghai, and Art Singapore, further strengthening his global presence.
Artist Statement
This new series is an intimate dialogue between identity and abstraction. By reducing facial features to their simplest form and presenting them in stark contrast to the vibrancy of the colors, I aim to challenge the perception of the self and the viewer's presence. The neon pink head serves as a beacon of individuality, while the black markings reduce expression to a universal language—a language that speaks beyond cognition and invites reflection and emotional resonance. In a world saturated with complexity, this series distills the portrait to its purest essence, blending minimalism with profound depth.
Please note: Due to its size and format, this painting will be delivered rolled in a tube to ensure safe shipping.
