Soviet Space Souvenir - First Space Satellite. Made in USSR (CCCP).
This souvenir continues a family of a souvenirs of the Soviet period issued in honor of the first satellite, flight of the man in space and the further conquest of space. (An early version of the satellite - the hammer and sickle image is slightly smaller.)
Here is some from them: GLOBE ALARM-CLOCK, MIR-SPUTNIK, MIR-VOSTOK, ROCKET-PEN...
Consist Russian word MIR (Peace) in the form of a contrail. The communistic sign - sickle and hammer is on the front side of a satellite.

The satellite itself is made of aluminum with four delicate steel antennas that trail behind it.
The base has a cap of gold finished metal, which is imprinted/embossed with a image of the Euro-Asian continent. Additionally, it is marked "4-X 1957 CCCP". The "4-X" denote the date of October 4 - the day of the launch.

The base is Bakelite.
